One Year

Roxie made it--she's survived the first year with our family.  And somehow we survived our first year with her.  No extravagant parties to report--Dad is out of town fishing.  The three of us girls ventured out to the mall, ate some ice cream, and came home.  We will have a little family party on Sunday to celebrate.  Hopefully I will get some photos to post.  I've been terrible at that recently.  The pictures I do take are terrible.  She's been doing a scrunchy face lately that I have been trying to capture, but so far have been unsuccessful.  Maybe Aunt Shannon will have more luck--she'll be doing a photo shoot for us for the 1-yr old pictures.  With Alice, I have been really good at getting portraits taken of her around her birthday each year.  I hope to continue that tradition with all my kids.  A posting of the "party" is to come.

In other news, today started off with a nice little 4.5 earthquake just before 5:30am.  It definitely woke me up.  I was glad that it happened while we were all not too conscious or else it might have riled me a little more than it did.  They always make me feel so powerless.  The earth shakes and I can't do a darn thing about it.

I've got some good news--and some bad news.

Has anyone ever said that to you?  My husband came in last night from tinkering with the car and said:

J: I've got some good news, and some bad news.

B: What's the bad news?

J: The good news is that I fixed the cigarette lighter so it isn't dangling from the dash anymore (How this happened, we don't know).  The bad news is that the stereo doesn't work.  I had to unplug it to get the lighter back in and now it wants the security code so we'll have to take it in to get fixed.  AND, the cigarette lighter doesn't work either.

B: Wait, what is the good news?  I don't think there was any...

If you are given the choice between knowing good news or bad news, which one do you choose to hear first?  I like the bad first--then when I hear the good news, the bad doesn't seem so terrible.
