    Wienermobile

Alice went with Dad down to see the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile last weekend.  They got their picture taken in front of it and a free weenie whistle!  Wow, what more could you ask for on a Saturday morning?

How do you turn this thing off?

Alice's vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds each day.  Sometimes we wish she had an "off" switch.  She has learned all of her animal sounds and will recite most of them on command.  "What does a cow say?"  "Moo moo."  We asked her, "What does Cookie Monster say?"  Her response was, "Cookies!  Yum, yum..."  She knows circles, stars, and hearts.  All other shapes don't matter.  Alice also loves singing and will walk around the house warbling.  She sings some kind of version of the following: Old McDonald, ABCs, and Jingle Bells.  At night sometimes we sing songs about Jesus (Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam, Jesus Said Love Everyone), so she sings "Je-sus our guy!"  Not sure where she came up with that, but we thought it was kind of funny.

Her and Dad went to the store and bought some bubbles.  When Alice figured out that she could blow them herself, she thought it was pretty cool.

Alice has also taken a liking to calling her dad "Jeek" or "Jeekob".  Sometimes mom calls him "Jake" or "Jacob" and she figures that is just another name for her to use as well.  When Dad is upstairs and she is downstairs, she cranks her neck and yells for him.  "Jeek!  Jeek!"  I think it is funny, but Jake--I mean, Jeek--doesn't find it as amusing.

In addition, she has now started pulling her pants off.  She will pull them down, take them off, and be completely content walking around the house with only a diaper on the bottom-half.  Alice has also been pretty consistent with telling us "poo-poo" before she goes and then after.  Is she ready for potty-training?  Are WE ready for potty-training?  Who knows...but, she keeps us moving.

    Hair Cut

We were over at our friend Donya's house the other day for hair cuts.  Alice played with Hadley (or, Haddy as Alice would say) while we were busy with the hair cut.  No problems there, right?  All was going well until Alice noticed that mom wasn't in the room.  She discovered us in the middle of the hair cut and things went downhill fast.  She had a MAJOR meltdown--one like I have never seen before.  She was crying so hard that she almost couldn't get air.  We think she was upset because mom didn't look like "mom" anymore under that black cape.  All she could see was my head and wet hair.  It took Jake quite a while to calm her down after finally taking her out of the room.  After my cut, we plopped her down for a short trim.  She became very uneasy until Donya pulled out the suckers.  Everything is so much better when you have a sucker.  Not sure why the sudden meltdown.  I have given her a few trims myself, but never pulled out the black cape.  She just gets the towel around her shoulders at home.  Needless to say, I don't think I will have her around for my next cut.
